On 11 October 2010, IED Madrid, a partner of the Madrid Pavilion at the Expo 2010 Shanghai, is set to unveil MadridDesignNet, a permanent network geared towards on-line research and work. The website, which can be found at www.madriddesignnet.com, draws together young designers from around the world, united by the common goal of innovating and creating ideas and proposals for the Spanish capital.
As part of the activities and celebrations being staged against the backdrop of the World Expo, the Madrid Pavilion is set to showcase the MadridDesignNet network of young talent being spearheaded by the IED, a partner of the Madrid Pavilion at the World Expo 2010 Shanghai. The presentation will run from 9-17 October, and will be accompanied by a series of workshops and conferences on the cities of tomorrow.
The network draws together 1000 young designers from around the world, all of whom have been working for various months now on the theme behind the Expo: Better City, Better Life, the ultimate aim of the collaboration being to present the 20 best proposals on how to improve urban life at the hugely prestigious and popular World Expo Shanghai.
Following this presentation, Madrid will cement its leading position as a facilitator of relations between young urban talent, and also as a reference point for urban transformation, an enormously important concept for dynamic and rapidly changing cities, such as China’s own.
